Swiss M83 Alpenflage Field Shirt
After searching for the best Alpenflage camos on the market. We finally found one that is comfortable and is rad to wear. Introducing the Swiss M83 Field Shirt. Known as Taz-83 or the nickname “Pizza Camo” this Swiss pattern was standard issue across a range of gear from the late 1950s up into the early ’90s.
It was built for alpine terrain, where the mix of colors blends naturally with fall and early winter landscapes. Outside of that setting, though, it became famous for the opposite effect of being out there and unique to look at. That contrast is exactly what pulled collectors in and gave the pattern its cult following.
The M83 field shirt is a good example of how the Swiss approached gear: straightforward, but never boring. The 50/50 cotton-poly construction makes it a solid choice for milder weather, and the layout goes beyond the basics with added storage details and unique pocketing that set it apart from typical field shirts.
