Swiss M70 Alpenflage Rucksack
One of those extra items that makes you wonder what the Swiss were getting ready for is the Swiss M70 rucksack. This little assault pack, which was first distributed with the renowned Alpenflage field jacket, was the pinnacle of Swiss engineering during the Cold War and was made to clip straight into the uniform.
The M70 punches much above its size thanks to its sturdy cotton canvas construction, steel hardware, and enough connection points that would baffle contemporary hiking businesses. Originally, the main compartment held food, ponchos, mess kits, and whatever else a conscript required in the Alps, while two side pockets stored rockets or mortar rounds. After the original jacket system was taken out, a few models were modified with solo shoulder straps.
